Random snippet: Lamb

The following is a random little slice from Lamb by Christopher Moore. Why? Because it makes me smile I guess.
“Eek, a tiger,” Rumi said, as we stumbled into a small clearing, a mere depression really, where a cat the size of Jerusalem was gleefully gnawing away on the skull of a deer.
Rumi had expressed my sentiments exactly, but I would be damned if I was going to let my last words be “Eek, a tiger,” so I listened quietly as urine filled my shoes.
That really should be all I need to say about that book to adequately express my praise.

My wife’s a big Christopher Moore fan…but I prefer my satire with a sharper edge. Have you read TOWING JEHOVAH by James Morrow? Amazing concept, amazing book. Two other related faves that come to mind are Timothy Findley’s NOT WANTED ON THE VOYAGE and Wilton Barnhardt’s GOSPEL. Give them a shot…
I have read Not Wanted On The Voyage, it’s awesome. I don’t know that it ever saw much light in the USA. It’s a shame if it didn’t. I’ll check out the others that you mentioned, thanks!
