Ett klick för skogen

If you’re like me you have a web browsing morning routine. You have a section of your bookmarks that you click through each morning. For me it’s some comics, some blogs and a couple news sites. However, mixed in there I have “A click for the forest.” Clicking the button on the site once per [...]

A montage for the Israeli girls

Just some interesting tidbits to get you through recess today.

Israeli women with assault rifles buying some ice cream makes for a surreal image. It’s tough to wrap my mind around the differences in that society or to imagine growing up there.
Don’t forget to buy your Harry Potter books from a Canadian retailer such as [...]

Pinkie needs a home!

This picture breaks my heart. This beautiful, sweet dog needs a home, pass it along! Read her full bio at the original post on Shakesville here, but suffice to say she is a sweet, loving 12 year old basset that needs somewhere to call home. She is in Alabama currently, but a little road trip [...]

Reuse your cell phone for fun and profit

Reuse is the most virtuous of the 11 R’s. Narrowly edging out Ridicule and Recycle. In the spirit of reusing and making some cash at the same time, this site may be a good resource. Cell For Cash buys your old cell phone and resells it to some other sucker. It’s pretty slick really when [...]

Stupid people: Tom DeLay

The stupidest human contest has really heated up with this brilliant speech given by Tom DeLay,
“I contend [abortion] affects you in immigration,” DeLay told the Washington-area gathering. “If we had those 40 million children that were killed over the last 30 years, we wouldn’t need the illegal immigrants to fill the jobs that they are [...]

I am prejudiced.

Recently I overheard one of those classic conversations where everyone in the group brags about how they are completely devoid of prejudice. They treat everyone equally and unicorns kiss them good night when they go to sleep. It got me to thinking that either people are using a very limited context for the term prejudice, [...]

Knowing is half the battle: Cellulosic ethanol

Every day now it seems that the less than informed masses continue their slow bovine shuffle towards the trend of corn ethanol. Of course it’s a white house win-win because it keeps on burning oil just as much as ever, if not more, and it makes the lobbyists happy. However, it’s important to remember that [...]

Eating (your) Green(s)

The other day I was sent a cookbook to review. The deadline was rather tight so I decided I could only cook one full meal (appy, main and desert) from the book. I was lucky as everything turned out well and plates were cleaned at the table. Afterwards I asked for feedback and what met [...]

Toronto man picks up the cities trash for donations instead of panhandling

This guy is awesome!
Marc the Litter Guy needed money to pay the rent but he didn’t want to panhandle.
So the 30-year-old got some garbage bags and put a sign on his back saying he was cleaning the city for donations.
“I needed to make my own job, so I thought I’d go around and clean [...]
