Exxon now hiring naysayers, apply within!

As we all know, the IPCC report is out and it states just how jacked up the climate is. All the analysis of the report seems to confirm that the 2500+ experts, 800 contributing authors and 450 lead authors from 130 countries do in fact have a clue.

The only news from the denier front are reports from various scientists and economists that they have been offered $10,000 by AEI to publish anything debunking the IPCC report. AEI is the American Enterprise Institute and it is funded by ExxonMobil and closely tied to the Bush administration. You would think that with $39 billion in profit this year Exxon could spring for more than $10k per.

Climate scientists described the move yesterday as an attempt to cast doubt over the “overwhelming scientific evidence” on global warming. “It’s a desperate attempt by an organisation who wants to distort science for their own political aims,” said David Viner of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia.

“The IPCC process is probably the most thorough and open review undertaken in any discipline. This undermines the confidence of the public in the scientific community and the ability of governments to take on sound scientific advice,” he said.

The report is posted and analyzed all over the internet, so I won’t go into it here. In a nutshell; Our wasteful lifestyles have put us in a bind. If we continue to burn fossil fuels and act wastefully at this rate then we will see extreme climate changes. Extreme weather and temperatures will become increasingly common every year with increasing power. Ocean levels rising by feet, decreases in wildlife, and just the general decline of all the things we take for granted. So quit fucking up and make some changes to your lifestyle today.
